Tenth Month Vision

Tenth Month Doula Services has been around since 1994.  Over the years, doulas have become more well known and have been in the news more and more.   In 1994, in South Florida there were no doula services.  Many hospitals were hesitant to make referrals.  Now, there are hundreds of doulas in that part of Florida.  Most hospitals welcome the doulas.  Doulas are a vital addition to the birth team, and can provide the solid,  evidence-based information that families need to make informed decisions.

Citrus County Florida is much like it was in South Florida back in 1994.  Most people are still learning what a doula is.   Although the demographics are different in this rural part of the state, pregnant women and new mothers and families still need support.    It is our goal to educate this community and to be able to provide doula support when it is needed.

In addition, Postpartum doula training and mentoring is a vital part of ensuring a doula for every woman, which is one of the goals of  Dona International .  Tenth Month has providing DONA approved training since 2002, and will continue to train doulas in Florida and elsewhere.  This will increase the trained dou

Betsy is now offering a self-study training and mentoring program for those that can’t travel, and would like more one-one mentoring.
