Cesarean Section

The rate of cesarean sections has increased dramatically since the 1970′s.  The national average currently stands at about 30%.  Are all of these surgeries medically necessary? Should there be such a thing as an elective cesarean?  Many people are asking these questions and there are many answers.

One important factor is that cesarean is major abdominal surgery.  The fact is that cesarean section is the number one surgery performed in the United States today.  As with any surgery there is risk involved.    Education is the key to taking charge of your own healthcare, and avoiding an unnecessary cesarean birth.
